HIV & AIDS

The impact of the AIDS pandemic in Asia is staggering. Although sub-Saharan Africa has the largest number of people living with HIV (estimated 29.4 million in 2003), South and South-East Asia are the regions where HIV is spreading fastest.

The estimated number of 4.6 million Indians infected with the HIV virus totals more than the entire industrialized world combined (1.6 million in 2003). India is second only to South Africa in terms of the number of HIV infected persons in the world.

Counselling

Some countries suffer from low per capita incomes, dramatic inequities in income distribution, and poor healthcare infrastructure making it difficult or impossible to provide high quality medical care to those who need it.

We offer this directory of resources to recognize the linguistic and cultural diversity in populations around the world. There is a vast amount of information about HIV and AIDS on the Internet. This page just highlights a few choices covering a wide range of issues.
